What Is Dental Bonding?
In the following video, Dr. Amelia Aristodemo discusses dental bonding—a quick and minimally invasive procedure using tooth-colored resin to fix chips, gaps, and discoloration.
Dental bonding, also referred to as white fillings, resin fillings, or tooth-colored fillings, is a cosmetic dental procedure used to restore or improve the appearance of a person’s smile.
During the bonding process, a tooth-colored composite resin material is applied to the affected tooth or teeth and sculpted to achieve the desired shape and contour. The resin is then hardened and bonded to the tooth surface using a special curing light.
Dental bonding can be used to address various cosmetic concerns, including:
1. Repairing chipped or cracked teeth
2. Filling in gaps or spaces between teeth
3. Concealing stains or discoloration
4. Reshaping misshapen or uneven teeth
5. Protecting exposed tooth roots caused by gum recession
One of the primary advantages of dental bonding is its ability to blend seamlessly with the natural teeth, resulting in a more aesthetically pleasing smile. Additionally, bonding typically requires minimal tooth preparation and can often be completed in a single dental visit, making it a convenient option for many patients.
