What Are Partial Dentures?
In this video, Dr. Amelia Aristodemo covers partial dentures—a traditional solution for replacing sections of missing teeth.
Partial dentures are dental appliances designed to replace one or more missing teeth on either the upper or lower arch of the mouth while preserving the remaining natural teeth. These appliances consist of a base made of various materials such as metal, acrylic, or porcelain, with artificial teeth attached to the base.
Partial dentures are secured in place using metal or acrylic clasps that wrap around adjacent natural teeth, providing stability and retention. The clasps help ensure that the partial denture remains firmly in place during eating and speaking.
Similar to full dentures, partial dentures should be removed daily for cleaning, rinsing, and brushing to maintain optimal oral hygiene and prevent oral health issues.
